My Faith

Well, here we are, having the what-religion-are-you-again conversation. My family and I are Messianic Gentiles, who are (in a nutshell) Christians who do the Jewish festivals and Sabbaths and follow the Jewish dietary laws (all of which are laid out in Leviticus), but still believe in Jesus as the Messiah (we call him Yeshua, which is the Hebrew for Jesus). I love the Jewish people, even though I am not Jewish, and I love Israel.

My faith has been tested in many ways, but I remain strong in who I am in Yeshua, and I know that my identity is in Him. I have been the odd one out, and I have been part of the “normal” crowd.  I know what it feels like to be in both of those places, and I am in both of those places regularly. It can be tiring, having to explain just why I can’t go do something on Friday night or Saturday, or why I don’t eat pork or shellfish. However, I have had some wonderful people come into my life over the past couple of years, and they have helped me realize that my faith is special, and I do not need to explain it away. By all means, I do explain it to those who ask, but I try not to make excuses for my faith. This is who I am, and if someone has an issue with my religious stance, they do not have to read my blog.

I am not saying that you have to be a part of my faith or I won’t accept you. I am saying that we are all different. I am just fine with the fact that my friends come from a dozen different churches and denominations, and they are okay with the fact that I am different as well.

Please, do not think that this is a blog exclusively for Messianics. This is a blog for anyone, whatever their denomination. Just know that I will talk about God and faith and the Bible freely in my posts.
